Not necessarily that everyone is being forclosed on, but more that people cannot get approved anymore. With that, the rental market has taken off in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. People are not necessarily getting a discount per say, but they are not having to pay taxes and homeowners dues and such. Investors are getting full value for rents. I am a property manager and have at least 3 showings of lease homes a day. It is def. the market to be in! We in Texas are going through the same thing. It drives me nuts on these short sales where the sellers make it very difficult to see their home. They're on a timeline and need to get an offer to put off the trustee sale date. If I wanted to try and save my credit a little bit, I would be very flexible about people showing my home. Tenants in the short sales is another tuff one, but I won't go there. :-) I feel your pain.
